Paws & Quiet Retreat

A calm, loving home away from home for your dog.

Based in Leeds, 10 minutes from Leeds Bradford Airport and covering the surrounding West Yorkshire area, we offer a calm, home-from-home boarding experience where every dog is treated like one of the family. As a retired couple, we're around throughout the day for walks, cuddles and companionship, so your dog is never short of attention. We also keep numbers deliberately low, welcoming just one or two guest dogs at a time, creating a relaxed environment that's a world away from busy kennels.

Hello from

Karen, Simon & Rosie

Hello! We're Karen and Simon, and we'd love to welcome your dog into our home.

We're a retired couple living in Bramley, Leeds, with our lovely Labradoodle, Rosie. Our children have flown the nest, so after more than 30 years of owning and caring for dogs, we have plenty of time, attention and affection to give to the dogs who stay with us. We know that most dogs are happiest with good company, a lovely walk, and a comfortable place to relax afterwards.

Because we're retired and at home throughout the day, your dog will enjoy plenty of company, cuddles and care, helping them feel relaxed and settled while you're away.

Every stay is tailored to your dog, from their usual food and favourite sleeping spot to a routine that feels familiar and reassuring while you're away.

  • Fully insured, licensed and happy to provide references
  • Retired owners at home throughout the day
  • Small numbers only — never overcrowded
  • Photo and video updates while you're away
  • Free meet-and-greet before any booking

Kind words

What dog owners say

"Barney is a lovely dog, but he's definitely not the easiest! He has bags of energy and likes things done his way, so finding the right people to look after him was really important to us. Karen and Simon were brilliant from the start. They took the time to understand him, kept him busy with plenty of walks, and treated him like one of their own. He came home happy, settled and exhausted in the best possible way."

Venessa, owner of Barney

"Luna can be quite nervous and takes a little while to warm to new people, so I was understandably anxious about leaving her. Karen and Simon were so calm and patient with her, and she quickly settled into their home. I love receiving photo updates throughout the day, and it's such a relief knowing she's somewhere safe, comfortable and genuinely cared for."

Chloe, owner of Luna

"We've used Paws & Quiet Retreat twice while we've been away and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. It's clear Karen and Simon genuinely love having dogs around, and because they only take a small number at a time, every dog gets plenty of attention. The updates were fantastic and we were able to relax knowing our dog was being looked after like part of the family."
